Yes, there has been knitting. A wee bit. And I have pictures to prove it...
Baby Hat, started mid-March 06 finished mid-April 06
Pattern: Baby Hat from One Skein, by Leigh Radford
Yarn: Peruvian Highland Wool from Elann, color Celadon
Needles: Size 4.50mm(US 7) bamboo DPN's
How hard is it to get little ones to stay still for a photo? Difficult, at the least! My nephew, Tyler had to join in the photo shoot. And much thanks to his sister, Jordyn, for her patience while I tried to get all angles of the hat. Isn't she a cutie? It was Easter Sunday and we hid 92 eggs with chocolate, Jelly Belly jellybeans, coins, and larger bills for the kids to find. Yep, even my 19-year-old niece participated. And found enough eggs with money to take care of her food bill this week(living in the dorms and studying for a music degree can be tough!).
As usual, the hat took longer than necessary. I'm a slow knitter. Wait...let me restate that phrase...I'm an e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y s-l-o-w knitter. I try even my own patience. I'm easily distracted. I get thirsty, the phone rings, the daughter needs this, the son wants that. You get the idea. This hat should probably only take several hours. But true to the title of the book, it did take one skein. With several yards left-over. I think it would be a good pattern to have around for gifting. I needed a simple project that wasn't difficult and would restart my knitting mojo.
It did just what I wanted. I'm ready to peruse my patterns and books. And dive into my yarn stash. I did see several nice projects out there in blogland. A poncho is one item I didn't think I would ever want to knit for myself but after seeing this Ponchetta, I want one. I want to knit one.
And this very beautiful stole I saw on this blog. It is a pattern from See Eunny Knit!. Very pretty and something I very much would love to try my hand at.
So much wonderful creativity out there! I've been checking out whip up. Where I learned about podcasts and how wonderful they are...and you don't even need to have one of those pod-things to listen to them! And they are running a weekly competition. You can win prizes. How great is that?!
And still thinking of Project Spectrum. April is orange and yellow. And since my son is in New York with the digi-cam, I dug up this old photo I had posted on my old blog. It was the closest thing to orange/yellow I could come up with today. They are rambutan. And delicious for eating.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
that hat is adorable! i haven't quite gotten to that book yet...still finishing up the new harlot book and bouncing around in the mason-dixon one. probably why i love knitting books with LOTS of pictures. these newer ones rekindle the love for dishcloths and cheap cotton *sigh* now to go find a good tree...

Mmmm...rambutan. Judging from the foods you post here, I'd be cleaning out your refrigerator if I ever got close enough. The hat and its owner are so heart meltingly adorable. I'm glad you're back and blogging!

Yay! You're back. Thanks for updating.
I don't know what is cuter: The hat or the kids. Definite good blog fodder here :-)
