I can't believe there is only 10 days left until Christmas. Once again, I'm doing all of my shopping in a mad, crazed, three-hour spree.
I am trying to finish several handmade gifts. I've been trying some of the crochet, amigurumi dolls but haven't found it much satisfying to create. I love the patterns but can't seem to get into them...I'll try them again after the holidays.
I have found pleasure in knitting Kate. I'm almost done with the body and head portion. I'm using some acrylic I had around for a granny square bag project. She is going to be an eggshell colored kitty. There is a great bit in the pattern where the designer, Jess Hutchison, describes how to do jogless joins. As you can see, I made a boo-boo on the first color change. Did not notice it until much later. Oh, well...I'm thinking of sewing a patch over that spot. But it really does work...
And the photo on the right is my make-shift row counter. I have so many other projects on needles that I ran out of row counters. I always have to remember to count one after a row.
More gift-making...
This bracelet is for my daughter's teacher. I love the way it turned out so much, I want to keep it for myself. When I shop for beads, I usually pick beads without a specific project in mind. And love to dive into the vintage bins. So much of the beads I have are hard to find again. I don't think I can replicate this bracelet exactly.
I finally received Creative Beading by Juju Vail. My bracelet was inspired by one of her designs in the book. I had so much fun putting this bracelet together. And because I had recently organized my beads by color, it really helped to move things along. I'm thinking of making another tonight in blue and silver.
I hope that you are having a wonderful season. Once I'm done with the gift-shopping and making and baking, I'll have room to enjoy Christmas. Stay warm and be happy!
